If you are into Trains and alternative modes of transportation, youÌre going to love our story about Hy-Railers, or Putt Putt cars. After you work up an appetite with all this backroads travel, cook yourself up a Cowboy Steak. Then check out Benny as he shows us some great secrets and tricks to planting a container tree, specifically a Camellia. To finish off this journey, donÌt miss Steve Ellis as he constructs an award winning piece of furniture out of gathered twigs, right before your very eyes! Since all of this is still pretty new to our site, we'd love for you to email us at info@farmersalmanactv.com if you have any problems viewing these videos.

This is how our story begins:

It was the first day of the year and a bunch of the kids on Leestock Street were scrambling with excitement. Every New YearÌs Day it was tradition in this tiny neighborhood for the kids to pitch tents and camp out in the backyards of the two houses at the end of the cul-de-sac. Nine-year-old SkipperÌs big brother, Joseph, helped some of the second and third-graders set up their campsites. A couple of the fathers pitched in as well, bringing out old gear they had used earlier in their own lives: tarps, canteens, pup tents, fire starters, sleeping pads, and so forth. ÏAll of these got me up and down the Appalachian Trail,Ó said CalÌs dad, bragging about how he used to run bears off from the camp in the middle of the night.

Help me Understand My Son
Contributed by: R. Joseph

So help me figure this one out. ItÌs a classic. Our family (me and the missus and Reed 8, Cosette 5), had a pretty fun Summer. The kids did some day camps, I snuck away from the office a few times for pool days, putt-putt and roller blading. We even all left town for two mini-vacations.
With all the fun stuff, youÌll never guess what my son Reed wrote and drew about on his first day of school when the teacher asked the students to tell about their most fun Summer Memory.

Joke of the Week

A farmer was driving along the road with a load of fertilizer. A little boy, playing in front of his house, saw him and called, "What've you got in your truck?"
"Fertilizer," the farmer replied.
"What are you going to do with it?" asked the little boy.
"Put it on strawberries," answered the farmer.
"You ought to live here," the little boy advised him. "We put sugar and cream on ours."

The best way to cook bacon is in a cold skillet, heated with a low flame. This will pull out more fat.
